How do design options work?
Heatpunk allows you to create multiple design options, allowing you to specify different systems on the same surveyed floor plan.
Creating and editing design options
When you first create a project, you will create a plan of the property as surveyed (called Plan). When you click Finish plan this will create a design option. In the design options, you can remove existing radiators and specify new emitters and specify position of the heat pump and cylinder.
Editing design options
Some changes made while in a design option will apply to all plans and some will only apply to that design option. Below is a summary of how changes to the floor plan will affect your Plan and design option plans.
| Changes | Plan or design option |
| Emitters |
Emitters added to the Plan will apply to all design options. Emitters added or removed from design options will only apply to the selected option. Editing an existing emitter while on a design option will also change the original emitter - not add a new one. Remove and replace the emitter to make changes. |
| Room temperature and ACH | Changes to the Plan will apply to design options, unless the value has already been changed in the option. The value in a design option will appear with a * if it differs from the Plan. |
| Heat pump and hot water storage | Changes to chosen heat pump or hot water storage will only apply to the chosen option. Changes to hot water settings will also only apply to that option. |
| ODT | Changes to ODT apply across the Plan and design options. |
| Building (walls, floors, windows, doors) fabric and room layout | Changes to room layout or building fabric apply across Plan and design options. |
In the corner of the right-hand side bar there is also the option to rename, duplicate and delete the selected design options:
The option to delete will not appear if you only have one design option. You cannot rename the original Plan.
